Lazy days after cooking-a-thon

It's Monday 10 am and I've been doing nothing but playing with my new cell, W880. After cooking 5 different meals last Saturday, there's nothing better than hibernating. We are all planning to go to the movie to watch Laskar Pelangi, which has been on our to do list every day for the past 4 days.

Cult of Cherry Lips

I purchased 2 lipsticks and 1 lipglass from Cult of Cherry collection. The dark lips so reminded me of the look back in the 80s when most of the girls here were sporting matte dark lips. I applied Kirsch and topped it off with Cult of Cherry lipglass and window shopped in Senayan City Mall and I swore that when I passed restaurants or coffee shops I could see some people looking at me (or my lips). It is such an unusual color for this year and out of 50 women (very stylish ones, if you may), absolutely none would wear dark-colored lipsticks.

Here are some of the pictures taken using Kirsch and Cult of Cherry combination.

Counting down to 40 has started

I'm all too excited about getting to 40. Although seriously, without exercising much, cutting down all the junk food and just have enough hours of resting, I must say there's nothing much to be excited about. Honestly I haven't started exercising and I believe my laziness has taken its toll on my body. So, that's how project Counting down to 40 started. I wanted to document my life from Sunday (my 39th birthday) to my 40th.

It seems pretty easy when I thought about it. But, here I am on Day-2, and still haven't taken any interesting pictures, just this uninteresting one:

In getting to the big four-o, I have at least tried to prep myself more diligently. Body lotion, eye serum, moisturizer, the work. I haven't picked up any pills to drink yet because there are just too many products on the shelves out there.

I don't think I want to look all that different from today, just please please please, may I still have my current sight (not 20-20, but still could do away without glasses) and the same number of wrinkles.

FOTD - September 18, 2008

I haven't given my pigments a long run for the money, so this FOTD was my attempt to use them up. I only have pigment samples which cost me not more than Rp 35.000 each. But still, when I finally get rid just one small sample, that would be time I feel I'm not wasting my money away.

I actually had pun putting on all the listed products on my eyes. I started out with Soft Ochre paint pot on the lid, then blend pinked mauve all over lid. Then I dotted some golden lemon from inner corner to mid lid, then add more pinked mauve on the outer lid. After that, I put on bell bottom blue from NN collection on the outer corner of the eye and swept it up onto the crease for definition. Next applied lovely lily on the most outer crease, nano gold as highlight, then swept more colors that look a bit faded after blending. After that, I swiped HIP gel liner on my upper lash, and use indigo eye kohl to tightline and also to diminish blank spots. Happen a lot when I apply gel/liquid liner.

I actually didn't feel the lip colors because I thought this look might be better with paler lips. So after putting on wild about you and the dazzleglass, I put on bonut beat l/g on top. Definitely looked better!

Everyday Minerals

I'm a dummy when it comes to MMU (mineral make up). So far I tried BareEscentuals foundation in medium beige and it worked just fine. I was hoping that it didn't make my face oily, but either because I had fantastic oil production and the little guys inside my pores were busy filling up a quota or BE simply didn't have that much oil control.

So last month, I started to browse around some MMU sites, especially those that girls in FD have been raving about. Finally I narrowed my searching to just 2 products, Everyday Minerals and Fyrinnae. I ordered some samples last Aug, 25 and last night the goodies arrived! 2 weeks waiting time only! Hurrahhh!!!

This morning I just had to try the samples I got, all of them. I ordered 3 semi mate foundation : warm-buttered tan, golden-medium tan and olive-golden medium, mint color concealer and waffle cone blush.

The review

I put on my regular POND's face cream, then started to buff my way around the samples. Now those jars were tiny it was so hard to get any product on my face brush, so I had to take off the shifters and used the brush to get the products. After moisturizer, I dotted the Mint concealer around my nose and on other red areas on my face. Medium tan was one shade too dark for me while golden tan is 2 shades lighter. So my shade for EM is warm buttered tan. Waffle cone was a warm rosy shade on me, so it's quite perfect for shading my cheek and my nose (will try that tomorrow)

I started my makeup routine at 8:15 am this morning and at 2 pm, the only thing that shine is my nose. That IS awesome. After washing my face twice (not because I was sleepy), I still look like I have some trace of makeup on my face. Another plus for EM.

Will I consider buying full size of foundation, then. Oh yeah, baby!

Edit:

I've been wearing EM on and off since I last reviewed the product. Apparently, what happened the first time I wore the foundation was a one off because afterward, whenever I wear EM, my face will look dewy (good) and oil shiny (not good). Now I'm not sure what happened but there's no change in my skin condition after that first day and I haven't change my make up routine either. Because of this, then I might have to rethink my earlier decision to buy a full size foundation.

Purple Eyelashes Contest

I can't put on false eyelashes even if my life depends on it. However, a party look is not finished without putting on falsies because admit it, long curly falsies is a requirement for a glamorous look, no? Imagine the glamor of purple eyelashes!

Neighborhood Report - Welcoming Ramadan

If there's one thing I learned from having my own blog is how difficult it is to consistently write. I planned to write a minimum of 1 posting a day when I started, and lo behold, my laziness got me to post just 1 post a month. Hats off to those bloggers who could manage to do several postings in a day. They must have some secret prioritizing system to be able to post AND make the posts interesting to read.

This month is a Ramadan month for moslems all over the world. Ramadan is a time when moslems fast by not eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. However, Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink, it is also the time to bring ourselves closer to God in our attempt to purify our soul, to clean up our act, thoughts and feelings from negativity. For me, Ramadan is the time to put God back into focus in my life because honestly, when there are so many things going on in my life, I usually ended up putting worshiping God last on my priority list. This Ramadan, I also plan to practice patience and to be really watchful of the way I feel and think on stuff in my life.

However, this post is not about my life attempt at being a better moslem, but about the celebration welcoming Ramadan. It was on Sunday, August 30th, one day before fasting began, in the middle of hot afternoon, I heard a loud banging and traditional music outside the door. Quickly my daughter and I went outside and watched in amazement kindergarten kids from the neighborhood marching down the street. It was a fantastic and colorful sight! The children were wearing moslem costums and they carried board saying "Marhaban ya Ramadan" (Welcome Ramadan) and there was a pair of 2.5m tall Ondel-ondel wearing moslem customs at the end of the march. All in all, watching the march made me all the more excited to welcome Ramadan.
