OPI India Collection

I'm such a sucker for bright nail colors and after looking at some swatches of OPI India collection, I dragged my bum to Grand Indonesia and peeked at the collection. Overall, it's a nice collection with several brights, but I decided to take home Lunch at the Delhi because it's a obviously a winner with pink, tangerine, and red undertone.

Put on your sunnies, cos tis one will make you blind with envy!

Awww OK, maybe you'd rather have pig's claws than mine. I have enough people teasing my big chubby fingers. If only they were MAC lipsticks...

FOTD - Satin Taupe

Whenever I look at my MAC Satin Taupe, I always have a case of wonderia (my new word). Really, it looks beautiful but once applied, my whole eye area seems a bit darkened, and I look a bit sick. I thought to myself, how could that be? This is supposed to be one of the must-have's! So, I keep playing with it.

Here's the latest one that I quite like.

Eyes:
Layin'low PP all over lid
Satin Taupe across the lid, blend upward
The golden brown in Dior Palette Incognito, at crease and outer V
Star Violet along the crease on top of the golden brown.
Blacktrack FL

Face :
Fashion Frenzy blush from Fafi

Lips :
Body shop lip conditioner

FOTD-Copper

A post-er in Temptalia Forum showed a look using MAC Coppering. I used to think copper color is just too bright a shadow for me, but after looking at her, I converted.

Here's a look for today, using La Tulip palette.

The face is the same, but I added MAC Prep and Prime.

Eyes:
Cash flow paint pot all over from lashes to brows.
Copper from mid to outer lid (2/3 of lid)
Dark brown at the V and crease
Blend and add copper to define lids.

Cheeks:
Bronzing powder in bronze
L'oreal Blush in Orange

Lips
Mari-sheeno lipstick & Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Refect #537

FOTD - Neutral Look

Ok, I opened this blog and was totally bummed since the post I sent via cellphone didn't get sent. *grrrr*

Anyway, I wanted to keep track of my teaching look at the Uni so I didn't repeat the same look twice in a row. I only taught once a week for 3.5 hours, but teenagers these days were as unpredictable as the ones I knew back then. Who knew if they would be talking bout my makeup and outfit when they're supposedly writing their assignments. On second thought, if they wrote those stuff in English and passed the notes back and forth, I don't mind. Any kind of exposure and practice is welcome.

So my face yesterday was :
  • Cash flow pp all over from lash to browbone
  • Dark brown shadow for crease
  • Woodwinked mid lid
And my current Holy smoke! face :
  • Body Shop foundation around nose and chin to cover my red spots
  • Studio Fix Foundation powder NC40
  • MSF Medium
  • MAC Bronze
  • Body Shop blush
And Utterly Frivolous from Fafi

testing testing

I've just added new application in my cell which would allow me to post stuff direct from my phone. So let's see if that'll work.

Sent from my phone using trutap

FOTD - Star Violet

I just realized today that I don't have many eye shadows, especially from MAC. However, the few that I have, are the ones that I get to use often. Talk about effective buys!

Today, I decided to use Star Violet, a veluxe pearl purple pink red shade. Very pretty!

  1. Apply Layin'Low p/p all over lid
  2. Apply Star Violet on top of the paint pot
  3. Use Satin Taupe for outer 1/3 of lid and crease, blend
  4. Dot black shadow ( from Elizabeth Arden palette) and blend
  5. Do my face routine
  6. Use Body Shop blush using #182
  7. Syrup listick and prrrr ligglass

The eye colors turn into a nice purplish pink. It makes my wide set eyes look a bit closer together. I also use Cash Flow p/p to line inner eyes down to half of the lower eyes.

Oooo I feel purrdyyy despite sucky pictures.

N Collection - gotta have mo'

Can't say much bout this product but love love love. For several days straight I got compliments from everyone who saw me, be it friends whom I hadn't seen for the longest time and my makeup-artist-in-law.

So which product holds the current holy grail position?

This.

The MSF in medium and brush #182. Both made my Visa screamed the loudest. I won't write the price for fear my husband will peek into this blog and cancell all my cards. Hahaha.

But truly, back to MSF, I'm glad that I didn't read review about it first as I found out post-purchase that some bloggers didn't put it on their recommendation list. However, just like what the MA said, MSF is a finishing powder, and when applied correctly, it's just instant magic to my face. The MA actually recommended me to get the powder in two colors; lighter and darker, because the darker MSF could be great for contouring. Guess you know what I'm saving for next.

This is what I've done for the past few days.

  1. On clean face (I usually do my face after my eyes), dot liquid foundation (I use Body Shop) on imperfection. In my case, it's the red blotches around my nose and under my lips.
  2. Pat MAC Studio Fix foundation + powder all over, then blend using #182.
  3. With the same brush, lightly dust MSF on part of face I want to highlight (cheeks, under my eyes, chin, nose bridge) then in circling motion, lightly run the brush across face.
And hello, beautiful! *wolf whistles*

Fafi Madness

Finally, the collection hits Jakarta today. I plotted some excuses not to come to office in the morning so I could grab Fafi products (and I'm almost 40. Such juvenalia).

Anyways, I got 2 paint pots; Cash Flow and Layin' Low and Fashin Frenzy blush. With this purchase, may my inner shop god in me shimmer down.

First Haul

Uh-oh, spoke too soon.

Later in the evening, the same day, I went to Grand Indonesia which has the 3rd MAC outlet with Devita, my sis-in-law. The place was still decorated with all Fafi as there was Fafi launch earlier there. The MAs were all dressed like the Fafi dolls, short skirt, black and white long socks and totally funky bright color make-up and wigs. I wish I took pictures of the girls there but I've used up my phone memory to take picture of my favorite Fafinette.

Kasih on Fafi stage

She loves Ermine the most

I went to the same mall again the next day (long story short, Aca wanted a burger from Burger King and a Pokemon figurine, and I wanted to see more Fafi *blushes*). After visiting MAC counter for some lipstick swatches, I decided to get Utterly Frivolous. It's truly a gorgeous light pink with a hint of peach which in my opinion looks so much better than Strawbaby that everyone's been raving about. Oh, and I got Blue Peep fluidline as well. Oh, and I wanna punched Ivan, the only male make-up artist there. He's got rude queen written across his forehead. Good thing he could wing my eyes beautifully, otherwise I would definitely tell him off.

Now for a bit of a review on the pain pots released in Fafi. I love the paint pots and the colors are very pretty without being in your face. Well, except a generous application of Rollickin' which is a light greenish blue. For those who still mulls over whether to get a paint pot, get Layin' Low. For some reason this paint pot doesn't get as much hype as Perky (shimmery peach), Girl Friendly (shimmery pink) and Rollickin'. But since I can't get my hands on Soft Ochre paint pot from N Collection, this is I think the best soft matte beige brown cream that could be used on its own for a very neutral (aka blah) look or as a base for eye shadows. I'm just so glad I skipped Groundwork because it's much darker than Layin' Low.

YSL Rouge Pur Shine Sheen Lipstick

I used to have absolute love for YSL lipstick back when my mom liked to buy YSL lipsticks and I got the hand-me-downs. I still have Rouge Pur Lipsticks #66 & 68 sitting inside my drawer at work for a little touch-up every now and then. However, I'm no longer drawn to YSL as the fragrance infused in the lipsticks kind of putting me off and besides it's just TOO expensive. However, I still think YSL lipsticks have the best packaging compared to other top brands.

My baby brother (ok, ok, he's my HUGE baby brother) just got back from Dubai and he got me this in #16. Isn't he fabulous?

Verdict: This nude pink shimmer lipstick will be very pretty on lighter lips. On me, the color doesn't show much save for the transparent shimmer. I might try this again on my lazy day when I want to do stronger eyes.

The packaging is just soooo pretty, right?
