Attack of the Jollieness & FOTD - March 6, 2009

Last Wednesday after picking up my kids, I stopped by at Prema Salon. It's brow-threading time! I'd been having difficulty drawing my eye brows and realized that I needed to take action stat!

Well, I asked Acu to take care of me and apparently made a mistake asking for a slight arch. As a result, I ended up looking consistently surprised until my next threading schedule. Yes, they look pretty clean and shapely, but, I still couldn't pull off being a Jollie gal with my thin lips and plumpy cheeks. *le sigh*
Anyway, Acu does help drawing shading my brows easier and my face looks a tad slimmer what with my arches, but I'm staring at a face which is quite alien to me.

Anyway, this morning was a hurried day as usual, except I was woken up by this weird dream of me not delivering Hanif's share of lunch sharing on time. I started the day cooking up a storm aka heating up sambel goreng hati. Luckily the meal didn't go bad eventhough I forgot to put it on the fridge last night. Hence the dream, I figured.

Putting on a morning face was not going as smoothly as I wanted since MAC Deep Truth was a blitch to blend. Perhaps POND's eye cream made my lids too oily, but even after I smoothed Groundwork paint pot and NYX jumbo pencil Black Bean, deep truth still acted like a kid who insisted to stay at the toy store and no amount of dragging would make him step out. When such case happened, I just use my finger to blend.

As always, blush and lipstick came to the rescue when I had a bad eye look. The day is saved today by Nars Orgasm, a concoction of MAC Syrup, Revlon Ginger Rose & Estee Lauder Pure Gloss in Plum Nectar.

And voila!

But at least I look pretty decent.

Party Look to the Reunion

I have a 20 year reunion to go to in New Jersey that I couldn't go to. So instead, I cooked up some idea of what I'd like to look like. Mind you, it's around 8:30 pm, I just got back from work, was about to wash up before bed. Why not? That yellow dress wasn't a dress at all, just this shawl I tossed on my shoulder. The bottom? None! I' m at the bathroom, anyway. It was fun, though, playing dressed up. I had to dig several boxes to find me some earrings.

FOTD - October 28, 2008

I must say it's hard to post regularly every day. I don't know how other bloggers do it.

Here's my look today. I've been using mineral make up from Everyday Minerals in the past week. It seems that the foundation (I used a combination of Golden Medium, Buttered Tan and Medium Tan) works quite well with my prescribed sunscreen lotion. Neat. Now I just need to stock up.

I tried a mixed of MAC melon pigment, MAC love connection e/s (the solid one) and Revlon Espresso on my eyes but I wasn't too happy with the result.

On lips I used MAC "O" and Dior gloss. Look pretty good!

Everyday Minerals

I'm a dummy when it comes to MMU (mineral make up). So far I tried BareEscentuals foundation in medium beige and it worked just fine. I was hoping that it didn't make my face oily, but either because I had fantastic oil production and the little guys inside my pores were busy filling up a quota or BE simply didn't have that much oil control.

So last month, I started to browse around some MMU sites, especially those that girls in FD have been raving about. Finally I narrowed my searching to just 2 products, Everyday Minerals and Fyrinnae. I ordered some samples last Aug, 25 and last night the goodies arrived! 2 weeks waiting time only! Hurrahhh!!!

This morning I just had to try the samples I got, all of them. I ordered 3 semi mate foundation : warm-buttered tan, golden-medium tan and olive-golden medium, mint color concealer and waffle cone blush.

The review

I put on my regular POND's face cream, then started to buff my way around the samples. Now those jars were tiny it was so hard to get any product on my face brush, so I had to take off the shifters and used the brush to get the products. After moisturizer, I dotted the Mint concealer around my nose and on other red areas on my face. Medium tan was one shade too dark for me while golden tan is 2 shades lighter. So my shade for EM is warm buttered tan. Waffle cone was a warm rosy shade on me, so it's quite perfect for shading my cheek and my nose (will try that tomorrow)

I started my makeup routine at 8:15 am this morning and at 2 pm, the only thing that shine is my nose. That IS awesome. After washing my face twice (not because I was sleepy), I still look like I have some trace of makeup on my face. Another plus for EM.




Will I consider buying full size of foundation, then. Oh yeah, baby!

Edit:

I've been wearing EM on and off since I last reviewed the product. Apparently, what happened the first time I wore the foundation was a one off because afterward, whenever I wear EM, my face will look dewy (good) and oil shiny (not good). Now I'm not sure what happened but there's no change in my skin condition after that first day and I haven't change my make up routine either. Because of this, then I might have to rethink my earlier decision to buy a full size foundation.

My New Glasses!

Finally! After countless disappointments, I got a pair of new glasses! I had my eyes on the Cartier glasses, but these worked on my face, too so I absolutely had to have them.

However, wearing rimless glasses has its downside. It took some getting used to since with frame glasses my eyes were nicely rimmed by my dark frames. The upside, though is the fact that I can see my eye make up easily.

Unfortunately, some people thought that they preferred my old glasses. Killjoy! But here's some comparison :

I guess I'm not going to rest my old glasses for good, but just ease my new glasses so everyone will get used to my new look.

My Dior Lip Palette

I adores palette for the reason that it makes carrying make up super light and I have lots of colors to choose from. Now, if the palette is designed in an uber fierce compact, that's l.o.v.e.

Let me present my Dior Detective Chic lip palette (from Spring 2007), a gift from my beautiful mommy ... (drum rolls)

Isn't it fab? I love love the color. It's just so me.

The lip palette consisted of 6 colors of Dior Addict lipsticks; 4 from Dior Addict line (#797, 579, 369, 489) and 2 from Dior Addict Ultra-Nude (282 & 220). I love Dior Addict line because it gives out a little bit of shine due to its multi-reflex pigments. It is also very moisturizing but quite lasting, unless a plate of oily fried noodles is involved. The palette also comes with a double-tipped lip pencil which is incredible.

They are all gorgeous, and best of all are all permanent colors.

The Ultra-Nude are quite pretty but I couldn't pull the color off. Besides, they're no longer available so I don't need to elaborate on the color.

My favorite so far are 369 and 489. They're pretty nude but they give out a bit of a shimmer and they make my lips look better instead of super nudey kuntilanak lips. They could also be a dupe to each other because both of them look pretty similar on my lips.

Believe me when I said this, I am a pretty serious mother, not such a goof-off, only a dose of craziness every now and then.

But, add my kids to the mix, and my Peter Pan hubby, you got these :

Face fresh from the storage

I still haven't perfected my beauty routine. This morning, I took about 30 minutes to primp just my face. Gosh, how time flew when you played with make up.
Anyway, here's my routine :

1. Lather up with SPF 50 sunscreen (it doesn't really say that in the tube, but I was hoping that's what this doctor-prescribed sunscreen would have)
2. While waiting for 20 minutes for my skin to absorb the sunscreen, I apply my eye make up. Start with filling in my brows with brown shadows from my La Tulipe pallette, then draw a line along the creases with the same shadow. After that woodwinked on lids, and Bourjouis white shadow for highlight. Finish up by tightlining my eyes with MAC macroviolet fluidline, and Anna Sui + L'Oreal mascara.
3. Put on Prep+Prime Mac on my T-zone and cheeks.
4. Dot Body shop foundation sparingly; on the reddish area around my nose and on my chin.
5. NC20 all over, and LÓreal on my forehead. I sweat a lot so I put tons of powder on my forehead to absorb the sweat as well.
6. Clarins bronze balm and Revlon Shell Pink & Nude on lips
7. Bourjouse #35 on cheeks
